Pride II holds free open houses for the public in all ports of call she visits. During open houses, a 17 minute video is shown on the role of privateers in the War of 1812. Crew members also informally interact with visitors telling the Chesapeake Bay story. Pride II is also licensed to carry six passengers, or "guest crew," on overnight passages between ports. Pride II also implements an intense education program. While touring in the Bay, she conducts free, one-hour, hands-on School Tours of the ship. Students learn about the role of privateers in the War of 1812 and other highlights of the maritime history of the Bay. They also learn about life aboard a tall ship by rotating among four learning stations. In addition to the School Tour program, Pride, Inc. develops curricula that are delivered to students via the Internet based on the voyages of the ship to different parts of the world. Facilities: |
Pride II is the home of 12 crew members and up to 6 passengers for overnight and blue water passages. Facilities include berths for 18, three heads with showers, a fully equipped galley, and a large saloon. During chartered sails and receptions, caterers have access to certain facilities below deck. During public open houses, toilet facilities are provided by the host organization in dockside accommodations. |
