Each year, Gateways can take advantage of several workshops designed to share "best practices" and hone skills in a number of areas. In the past, these have included: developing effective grant applications, interpretive planning, preparing interpretive panels, Gateways Network orientation, improving Gateway operations and more.

Join us on November 8 th or 15 th for an Introduction to Greening Your Gateway
Time: 9:30 AM to 4 PM
Place:
- Nov. 8 at the Virginia Living Museum, Newport News, Virginia.
- Nov. 15 at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Edgewater, Maryland
The Topic: Learn what techniques you can introduce today to "green" your Gateway site, building and operations in this very practical introduction to actions inside and on the grounds.
The Presenters: A mix of local experts on topics from rain barrels to energy savings.
Join us December 4 th or 6 th for Marketing 201 - Moving Beyond the Basics
Time: 10 AM to 4 PM

- Dec. 4 at the Watermen's Museum, Yorktown, Virginia
- Dec. 6 at King's Landing Park ( Calvert County ), Huntingtown, Maryland
The Topic: Extend and enhance your Gateway's marketing and public outreach, with emphasis on co-marketing with nearby Gateways and across the Network.
The Presenter: Mike Bento, Communications Consultant and very well-received presenter of last year's Marketing Basics workshops.
